How you can help
Just a few hours a month as a volunteer Big can change a young person's life.
Depending on the Big Brothers Big Sisters program you're in, you’ll meet your Little on your own time, at his or her school or out in the community.
Littles come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are young and some are teenagers. Some may live on your block and some a few miles away. But the one thing they all have in common is that they all need a positive role model to follow.
Bigs and Littles find all kinds of fun things to do. As a Big, you and your Little can:
- Fly a kite on a windy day
- Go on a walk and collect interesting rocks, leaves or other items
- Feed the ducks at the park
- Shoot hoops
- Play a board game
- Mow the lawn or wash the car together
- Figure out how to program your TiVo
- Play Miniature golf or go bowling
- Share a pizza
- Just hang out and talk
- Or participate in the free match activities coordinated by BBBS each month
The opportunities are endless. Remember – it’s not what you’re doing, but why you’re doing it that’s
so important.
